College Counseling Ambassadors

Rowland Hall's College Counseling Ambassador Program gives juniors and seniors an opportunity to engage in a meaningful leadership position that jump-starts their engagement with the college process, hones their communication and organizational skills, and provides opportunities to develop relationships with their college counselors, admission representatives, and peers.

Ambassador responsibilities include:

  • Serving as representatives of Rowland Hall to visiting college admission representatives
  • Moderating virtual college visits for admission representatives and peers
  • Conducting primary-source research on colleges and universities with representatives visiting Rowland Hall

Students selected to serve for a second year as lead ambassadors are responsible for both training new ambassadors and coordinating the logistics for representative visits. Lead ambassadors also contribute to the visual representation and communication pieces of the process, which include contacting other ambassadors, college representatives, and fellow seniors.

Favorite thing about Rowland Hall: My favorite thing about Rowland Hall are the relationships you can foster with your teachers. They are always readily available to help with questions and they are always excited to teach and get to know you not only as a learner, but also on a personal level.
What you love about living in Utah: I love the fact that the surrounding mountains are so accessible from Salt Lake, allowing us to do tons of outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, and biking.
One thing you learned about yourself during the pandemic: I learned that I thrive with structure in my day and lots of activities. I don't like when I have excessive free time without much to do, and I enjoy being busy and interacting with people as much as I can.
Why I applied to be a college counseling ambassador: I applied to be a college counseling ambassador because I am looking forward to learning about colleges in any way that I can. I also feel like I am organized enough to stay on task and ensure that I'm always on time to meet with people and complete any assigned material.
